Pour hot water, stir, and close the lid of the stainless steel filter.
Wait for 4 minutes. Press down the filter, and it’s ready. You don’t need advanced techniques or knowledge like a barista.
Coffee measuring spoons are available at low prices, starting from a few hundred yen, and there are many different types. When purchasing coffee equipment such as drippers or servers, some sets may include a spoon, so you may not need to buy one separately. Choosing from simple ones to wooden or copper ones, according to your preference, can make the experience more enjoyable.♪
There are also many different manufacturers and designs available for French Press, and you can find them in shopping centers and cafes.
Of course, you can even buy them at Starbucks, so you can get them anywhere. 😆
Even if you don’t have a coffee grinder, you can still enjoy the convenience of buying pre-ground coffee from a coffee shop. If you buy beans from Starbucks and ask them to grind it for French Press, they will grind the beans for you.
If we talk about drawbacks, it’s that the flavor of the coffee beans, including coffee oils, is directly extracted, so it has a unique feel to it. There’s a slight cloudiness, and some people may not prefer that.
However, it’s a recommended coffee brewing method for experiencing the true essence of coffee, as it is similar to cupping ☕️, a technique used by professionals to discern flavors. It allows you to truly taste the inherent flavors of coffee, for better or worse. It’s a coffee tool worth trying! 💡

When it comes to enjoying coffee, that becomes the most important aspect. So, once you seriously engage with coffee, it’s recommended to gradually acquire the necessary tools and find a method that suits you and brings you joy.
While it’s convenient, it’s worth noting that there might be doubts about whether it fully brings out the true taste and potential of coffee beans, considering the principles and theories of extraction.
Nevertheless, in the beginning, the most crucial thing is to enjoy coffee, so let’s embrace it without worries and with ease.
It’s reassuring to choose well-known brands rather than unfamiliar ones. There are many options like De’Longhi, UCC, Hario, and more. There are drip-style machines with full automation and built-in grinders that start from whole beans. The variety is truly extensive.
However, I don’t recommend going for overly expensive ones, especially for those who are just starting out. Unless you have extensive experience, it’s better to opt for more affordable options. This way, if your enthusiasm wanes, the potential damage will be minimized. 😁

Instant coffee is synonymous with convenience and widely available not only at coffee shops but also at specialty roasters. It’s easy to prepare and requires minimal cleanup, which is great, right? 😁
You can enjoy various flavors, and it’s cost-effective too. It’s perfect for exploring your preferred and disliked tastes. Since the quantity is small (typically for one person), there’s no waste when the flavor doesn’t suit your liking. You don’t have to worry about having leftover beans and wondering what to do with them.
Once you find your preferred taste, brand, or coffee shop, you can even level up your experience. I’ll reiterate that it’s important to choose an approach that is accessible and keeps you engaged. It would be a shame to lose interest and stop midway.
Instant coffee
Do you think it’s not about methods like pour-over? Drip brewing is something that will come later. It would be nice for it to become more established, right? 💕 It’s not as convenient and comes with additional costs.
If you’re not interested or if it starts to fade, then instant coffee is sufficient. 😉
At places like Starbucks, they offer VIA, which is a stick-type instant coffee that can be used for both hot and iced coffee. You simply pour hot water, stir, and you’re done! For iced coffee, it can dissolve in cold milk (even with ice).
They have a wide variety of brands, including Colombian and Brazilian.

Moreover, Starbucks also holds extraction experience events and coffee workshops. There should be local cafes or coffee shops in your neighborhood that offer similar events.
Additionally, if it’s a cafe that roasts their own beans, they are even more recommended because they offer a deeper range of bean selections and flavors.
There is no need to suddenly equip your home with various coffee tools or try complicated methods.
If you can ask a professional, ask them. If they can teach you, let them teach you.
As the saying goes, “Seeing is believing,” so it’s good to experience things firsthand or observe them with your own eyes.
If there is a counter, sitting there and witnessing the syphon or pour-over brewing methods, among others, will help you understand the unique features of the coffee shop and allow you to learn by observation. It’s truly amazing.
